Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., said his conversations with House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, R-Okla., suggest the farm bill legislation will be debated in mid-June. Debate begins on the Senate bill Monday afternoon.

Private analytical firm Informa Economics thinks soybeans will be planted on 1.2 million more acres than USDA's March acreage estimate. Corn acreage is expected to be planted on 96.8 million acres, a 455,000-acre decrease.
Corn futures are higher, soybeans higher, and wheat lower at 6 a.m. CDT.
Look for live and feeder contracts to start out moderately lower this morning, pressured by Friday's confirmation of larger than expected April placement activity. On the other hand, lean hog futures seem ready to open on a mixed basis thanks to a combination of residual selling interest and positive fundamentals.
